Mondays:  Design Lab for Older Kids

This class is geared toward self-motivated kids ages 10-14.  They will learn how to throw on the wheel and hone their throwing and handbuilding skills over the course of the semester.  Because they are older, these students will get to choose what they want to work on, with lots of direction from the teachers.  (It sounds serious, but these kids will have tons of fun just like the younger ones!)
In all classes,  kids will use the wheels, slab roller and extruder.

Why do we make sculptures of humans, animals, and plants?  Let's investigate why certain cultures are so obsessed with making sculptures- both abstract and figurative.  In addition to using the wheels, slab roller and extruder, this class will create a collaborative sculpture of a human being!  Storytelling is a part of Artshack life, so come prepared to listen and share if you want.

Thursdays: The Curious Collectors

4:00- 5:30, Ages 5-10 BNS BUS PICKUP

Mr. & Mrs. Evans once lived at Artshack.  Rumor has it the Evans' were collectors- their apartment was filled with all sorts of odd objects- a curiosity shop of sorts.  The Evan's have since moved away- but their legacy remains.  Let's recreate their collection in clay and display it in the windows.   Who knows, maybe the Evans' will come back for a visit!  In all classes, kids will use the wheels, slab roller and extruder.  Storytelling is a part of Artshack life, so come prepared to listen and share if you want.
We take photos of our students and sometimes post them to social media. Please let us know if you do NOT want your child's photo to be taken.

12 sessions, $540. Sibling discounts available

Fridays: The City of Dreams

4:00- 5:30, Ages 5-10

This class is for curious city kids- the kids that look out the window on the subway, peep into manholes, and look for birds' nests atop skyscrapers.  In this class we'll use clay to explore the different weird and hidden aspects of city life.  We may even make some things that will live on the streets of Brooklyn...
In all classes, kids will use the wheels, slab roller and extruder.  Storytelling is a part of Artshack life, so come prepared to listen and share if you want.
