Artshack Community Programs
Community Open Clay Time
Artshack has piloted a monthly program in which it opens its doors one Saturday a month for any community member interested in ceramics free-of-charge. This effort is connected to our larger goals of sustaining strong community ties and providing accessibility to art for all community members.

Artshack awards scholarships to our Kids Ceramics Classes for young members of our community who, for economic reasons, could not otherwise attend. Providing them with access to our studio facilities as well as quality art education. Children can attend our after school classes and summer camp sessions.

Teen Assistant Internship Program
Local teens join Artshack as teaching assistants in the kids ceramic classes. This program provides teens with work experience in an enriching art education environment, leadership skills, access to trainings, and teen community/art events. In addition to valuable leadership and work development, teens receive a studio membership, including: access to the facilities, unlimited materials, and meaningful interaction with other teens from their community as well as engaged art educators.

Bedford Academy High School
Currently, though the school is a dynamic, well-supported learning environment, students at BAHS do not have access to funding for visual arts programming as part of their curriculum. Seventy five percent of the student body comes from low- income households. Artshack partners with the school to provide ongoing ceramics art courses. This program runs during school hours, and students receive academic credit for the class. These students gain an opportunity to explore and develop their artistic voices through the tactile medium of ceramics.
