Artshack Gallery is delighted to announce its first exhibition, a solo show by ann/drew gayle.

In Back into stone gayle explores the relationship between the organic and the inorganic. Their sculptures and objects narrate an evolutionary sequence of uncertain order. As if they were prehistoric beings that have undergone a mutation, growth proliferates on their surface. They appear crystalized.

On the floor lays a rug that shelters a multiplicity of other ceramic creatures meant to be touched, grabbed, and handled. An invitation welcomes the public to explore these objects physically. Organic and inorganic reunite.
This interaction brings the thought that the first life necessarily came out of inert matter, and that through the process of evolution, there are beings who eventually take and transform the elemental material of the earth into the bits they came from. Back into stone.
