The current session (Jan-Feb, 8 weeks) begins on Jan 6th and ends on March 1st.
Beginner - Beginner classes, such as Beginner Wheel Throwing and Beginner Ceramics, cover the basics of wheel throwing including centering, shaping, trimming and glazing. We strongly encourage students to continue taking Beginner classes until they feel self-sufficient on the wheel, since Intermediate & Advanced classes do not include basic wheel lessons or demos.
Intermediate - Intermediate classes, such as Intermediate Ceramics and Surface Design build upon foundational skills to practice more advanced forms and projects such as larger forms, lidded forms, sets, plates and more.
Advanced - Advanced Ceramics requires advanced wheel throwing skills. Through weekly critiques and advanced level projects, this class shifts focus from skill acquisition to the development of one's personal style, with an emphasis on developing a cohesive body of work. We strongly suggest students take classes for a minimum of 1 year before signing up for Advanced Ceramics.
All Level - Handbuilding for Fun & Function, Wheel Throwing for POC, Wine & Wheel Club, Wheel Throwing & Mindfulness and any additional speciality classes are suitable for all levels.
Wheel - Wheel classes will focus only on the pottery wheel. Wheel throwing is best for creating symmetrical and uniform pieces (due to the centrifugal force of the spinning wheel). We suggest wheel throwing if you're most interested in cylindrical vessels.
Handbuilding - Handbuilding classes does not include any time or lessons on the wheel! These classes will focus on handbuilding techniques such as pinch pots, coil building, slab building and more. We suggest handbuilding if you are more interested in irregular forms.
Ceramics - These classes focus on the wheel but explore a bit of handbuilding. The amount of handbuilding in each class is up to the teacher/student interest.
