Intro – Intro to Wheel is designed for absolute beginners who want to get comfortable on the wheel. Over 8 weeks, you’ll learn how to center, open, and pull basic forms, with plenty of guidance and low pressure. This is the best place to start if you've never taken a wheel class before. Students typically finish with a few glazed pieces and a strong foundation to move into Beginner Wheel.
Beginner – Beginner Wheel Throwing covers the essential skills of wheel throwing, including centering, pulling, shaping, trimming, and glazing. We strongly encourage students to repeat Beginner classes until they feel confident working independently. Intermediate and Advanced classes focus on basic wheel demos or instruction.
Intermediate – Intermediate Ceramics and Surface Design classes build on your foundational skills with more advanced techniques and projects. You’ll explore forms like plates, sets, lidded vessels, and more, while continuing to refine your technique and develop your personal approach.
Advanced – Advanced Ceramics requires advanced wheel throwing skills. Through weekly critiques and advanced level projects, this class shifts focus from skill acquisition to the development of one's personal style, with an emphasis on developing a cohesive body of work. We strongly suggest students take classes for a minimum of 1 year before signing up for Advanced Ceramics.
All Level – Handbuilding for Fun & Function, Ceramics for Adult POC, Wine & Wheel Club, and other specialty classes are open to all levels.
Wheel - Wheel classes will focus only on the pottery wheel. Wheel throwing is best for creating symmetrical and uniform pieces (due to the centrifugal force of the spinning wheel). We suggest wheel throwing if you're most interested in cylindrical vessels.
Handbuilding - Handbuilding classes does not include any time or lessons on the wheel! These classes will focus on handbuilding techniques such as pinch pots, coil building, slab building and more. We suggest handbuilding if you are more interested in irregular forms.
